Maximus Tyrannus Avery’s career spans technology, manufacturing, international trade, and economic development, giving him a broad perspective on how businesses grow and operate across markets. He began his professional journey at Alltel prior to its acquisition by Verizon, where he gained early experience in large-scale operations and corporate systems.

This work deepened his understanding of global trade, compliance, and cross-border business strategy. In 2023, he co-founded Digital Ascension Group, where he serves as Chief Business Development Officer and Principal, leading efforts to develop scalable growth strategies.

Early Career

Avery began his professional journey at Alltel, before the Verizon acquisition. It was his first real look at how large organizations operate. “It taught me how big systems move. You start to understand scale, process, and where things break.” Those early years helped him develop a foundation in business operations and communication. He learned how to work inside structured environments while still thinking about growth.

Leadership in Economic Development

Avery’s impact is not limited to private business. Since 2018, he has served on the Arkansas District Export Council. He was appointed by former Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. In this role, he supports local exporters and promotes global trade. “I care about helping people understand how to take their business beyond their local market.”

Local Impact

Even with a global focus, Avery stays grounded in his local community. He serves on the City of Alma economic development committee. He also stays involved with alumni efforts through the Kappa Alpha Order – Zeta Rho Alumni Organization. “Local work matters. That’s where you see the real impact.” He believes economic growth starts at the community level. Supporting local business and infrastructure is part of the bigger picture.
